How Content Pop Works
Content Pop is a news website that allows for
democratic editorial control. News and
other content are submitting by users (like you!),
and then voted to the front page through a user
based ranking system.
Readers can view all of the content that have been submitted by fellow
users. Once a piece of content receives enough votes, it appears on the front
page of Content Pop for a given period of time depending on how popular the content has become.
How To Vote
In order to vote, we will need you to register first. It's very easy, we
just need a username, email, password, and name. Click the
"Join Content Pop" on the upper left menu (shown below):
The system will send you an email to confirm your email address is correct and real. Just follow the
instructions in the email and click the link.
Now that you are an official registered user, the system will remember who you are. Voting
on the content is now possible. You can vote for any content by clicking on the "Vote For It"
button located to the right of each piece of content (shown below):
How To Submit Content
Some of you will located content on the Internet that you
find very interesting and you will want to share it with Content Pop users.
To do this, you must first select a community from the left hand menu (shown below):
Select a community that is related to your content. (If you can't find a
related community for your content, you can create a new community outlined below)
Clicking into any community will "select" that community for easy submitting of new
content.
To submit your new content, click on the upper left hand menu "Submit New Content" (shown
below):
Once you click the "Submit New Content" menu link, the system will ask
you for the website URL of the new content you want to submit (shown below):
You might ask "Where will I get this website URL from?" The answer is that
the website url can be from anywhere. Maybe it's content from your own
website, maybe it's content that you found using Google, or maybe it's content that
a friend or relative has talked about or email you.
If you don't have content already picked out or if you saw the content on the TV news, an excellent source
is Google News, search for exactly
the content that you find interesting and copy and paste (or write down) the website url
from the address bar located at the top of your browser into the Content Pop textbox.
After you click the Continue button, you will choose the content's category, headline, and description.
Clicking Submit Content will make the new content live on Content Pop.
How To Create A Community
If you can not find a community to submit your content, you may wish to create your
own custom community. To start, just click the upper left menu item "Create
New Community" (shown below):
When creating a new community, it's a good idea to already have at least
one website url of content picked out beforehand. To create a new
community you will enter the category, community name, and description.
Once you click the Continue button, you will be automatically redirect to
submit at least 1 content website url to make your community "live".
If you do not submit at least 1 piece of content, your community will
not be live and will not be visible to anyone.
What To Do Next?
Explore, Vote, Comment, Share. Go into other user's communities by clicking on the communities
